Problem
charity: water is global nonprofit funding thousands of water projects and serving millions of people with many donors and volunteers. charity: water needs an easy way to view this kind of data at a glance.
Background
Since 2006, charity: water has been helping bring clean and safe water to people in developing countries. Their ultimate goal is to end the global water crisis. charity: water has helped fund over 79,000 water projects, served clean water to over 13 million people, and funded water projects for 29 countries.
Research Goal
Design a responsive dashboard that allows charity: water to easily track the below on a global scale:
- Donations: Search for a donor to contact them with a thank-you note.
- Donations: Check how much money has been donated with filters.
Research Objectives
- Understand data management competitors (set-ups, gaps, pros, and cons).
- Understand the nonprofit domain (operations and transparency).
- Understand users' considerations in what key insights they prioritize.
Research Questions
- At what point does your company start to consider (motivations) a dashboard for their operations?
- What is a positive experience when needed to quickly look for data at a glance?
- What is a negative experience when needed to quickly look for data at a glance?
- What is the users' current methodology of looking at (raw) data (like donations, money, a list of people, etc)?
- What setup is used (if they have one) does the user have as their dashboard, and if they don't have one; would they consider it?
