Overview
For this task, I chose the open sorting with OptimalSort Workshop. I made 20 cards and
asked six participants to organize the cards.
20 Cards for Open Sorting:
Homeowner Insurance
· Renter Insurance
· Auto Insurance
· Boat Insurance
· RV/Trailer Insurance
· Animal (pet) Insurance
· Insurance Glossary
· FAQ’s
· Speak to Agent
· Compare Prices
· Claims
· Personal Information
· Privacy Pledge
· Legal
· Terms of Service
· Charity & Giving Back
· Careers
· Blog
· Accessibility
· Reviews
Similarity Matrix
The similarity matrix shows intersecting (dark) cells of potential groupings.
Dendrogram
The actual agreement method depicts factual relationships (known as the skeptical
dendrogram).
Results
Based on the card sorting done by six participants:
- 100% of the participants grouped Homeowner, Renters, RV/Trailer, Auto,
Animal, and Boat insurance as a type of insurance.
- 83% of the participants identified Accessibility, Blog, Careers, Reviews,
Charity, FAQs, Legal, Privacy Pledge, and Terms of Service as ab About Us
label.
- 66% of the participants identified “Personal Information” with My Account. I
think I would like to word “Personal Information” to “My Account” after seeing this.
- 50% of the participants categorized Speak to Agent and Insurance Glossary
as Help / Help Center categories.
- 33% categorized Compare Prices and Claims as Action Items. I was hoping
this would be higher since these are common buttons/actions used in insurance.
This has me thinking of changing the vocabulary to “Get a Quote” for Compare
Prices and “Make a Claim” for Claims.
