Prolific’s Adoption Leave Policy

Prolific is an inclusive company and we strive to support all parents, including those who have recently adopted a child. Adoption can change lives and we want to give parents the freedom and the support needed to make a truly life-changing decision.

We understand that the adoption process can be unpredictable, and we want to provide our employees with as much support as possible during this time.

Adoption Leave Eligibility Criteria

Prolific is committed to supporting all employees, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, who choose to grow their families through adoption. The adoption can be either domestic or international, and the child can be of any age 👶🏻

You're not entitled to take adoption leave for private adoptions.

To be eligible for adoption leave, you must:

  1. Give us at least 28 days’ notice before the leave start date, unless for circumstances where the time between the child being matched and placed is less than that. Employees must notify their manager that they intend to take adoption leave at least 28 days before the expected leave start date. They must also provide confirmation of the adoption date and the expected date of the child's arrival.
  2. Give proof that you are adopting or fostering to adopt within 28 days. Proof can be a letter from your adoption agency or the matching certificate.
  3. Provide evidence that you were matched with a child through an adoption agency.

Adoption Pay

If you're in a couple, only one of you can get adoption leave and pay and so you need to decide between yourselves who will get it. If you are the partner who does not get adoption leave and pay you will be able to use our secondary caregiver leave and pay. Both of you could also use Shared Parental Leave and Pay to take time off.

Adoption pay is paid at the same rate as our primary and secondary caregiver pay. You can read more about this on Parental Leave

To ****receive adoption pay, you must be continuously employed by Prolific for at least 26 weeks.
